Like a lot of the teams on this list, the Cornhuskers also had a shaky start to the year. Nebraska lost its opening dual meet to North Dakota State 20-16, beat Army 25-9, and then got pummeled by NC State 23-10.
From there they righted the ship by finishing first at the Navy Classic, first in the 2022 CKLV, and bested No. 18 South Dakota State to get some credibility back in the Dakota’s. The Cornhuskers then went on the beat the following ranked teams to finish out the season:
No. 12 Minnesota 21-9
No. 11 Northwestern 22-15
No. 13 Wisconsin 24-11
No. 21 Illinois 27-19
No. 4 Ohio State 25-16
No. 23 Rutgers 27-10
No. 18 Arizona State 25-15
In the middle of all of the ranked butt kicking Nebraska handed out, they did lose to Iowa 34-6. But that’s an impressive run they put on against some of the best in the Big Ten. It’s safe to say the Cornhuskers are peaking at the right time.
Due to the top end talent Nebraska possesses, this team has a real shot at a top three finish in the 2023 NCAA Championships. Which is saying something because if they do, it will be the Cornhuskers first top three finish since 1993.
The Big Ten Championships are set for March 4th and 5th in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
