CB Kalen King

Joey Porter Jr. received plenty of attention in 2022, and for good reason, but he did overshadow his fellow starting corner a bit.

That will not be the case in 2023 as Kalen King is the star of the Penn State secondary and is poised to receive his own first round pick hype.

As a sophomore in 2022, King started all 13 games for the Nittany Lions and was highly productive. He recorded 30 total tackles with three interceptions and 16 pass breakups, which led the team, and a forced fumble.

King was battle tested throughout the season, as teams did everything in their power to stay away from Porter on the other side. The sophomore handled himself well going up against the best wide receivers the Big Ten had to offer in 2022.

The nation got its first taste of what King can do in the Rose Bowl when he picked off Utah quarterback Cam Rising on a slot fade.

Color  analyst Kirk Herbstreit had high praise for King after the interception:

"You better be careful going against 4. I brought it up earlier, elite ball skills."

Now as the No. 1 corner for the Nittany Lions in 2023, King has a chance to solidify himself as one of the best in the nation in 2023.
