Konner Kraeszig

Penn State Career

Konner first stepped on campus at Penn State in the fall of 2018, where as a true freshman he took part in six matches at 165 pounds in the Messiah Open.

Then in his redshirt freshman and sophomore campaigns, Kraeszig competed in 15 total matches spanning the Black Knight Invitational, Wilkes Open, as well as extra matches in duals against Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, and Michigan.

During his extra season, Konner was unable to suit up for the Nittany Lions, but in the current year Kraeszig hit the mat for five matches in the Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open and an extra match in the Iowa State dual meet.

Prior to Penn State

Before committing to wrestle for Cael Sanderson and the Nittany Lions, Kraeszig competed for St. Xavier High School where was a four year letterman for the Tigers.

Konner was a two year captain, qualified for the Kentucky state championships his freshman year, had a career high runner up finish his senior year, and was a multiple all-star meet participant.

Kraeszig was born into a wrestling family as his father, Jim, was a wrestling coach for 25 years and coached Konner at St. Xavier. Coach Kraeszig coached three Kentucky State Championship winning teams and won four State Dual Championships during his tenure.

In 2022, Coach Kraeszig was inducted into the Kentucky Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame for his coaching accomplishments and achievements.

Konner’s hard work and dedication on the wrestling mat also extends to the classroom as he is a three time Academic All-Big Ten recipient in 2020-2022.
