QB2: Redshirt Freshman – Beau Pribula

After Christian Veilleux entered the transfer portal, Beau Pribula moved into the QB2 role. Pribula was a 3-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class and he was slightly overshadowed by Drew Allar when the class signed. However, his importance to the 2023 season goes beyond his ranking. Pribula is entering his Redshirt Freshman season, he is a dynamic athlete that is more of a dual threat than Allar is. The only issue with Beau is, he has yet to attempt a pass at the FBS level as he redshirted last season. He did get a lot of reps in the Blue / White scrimmage in 2022. To me, he looked more polished than Allar did at that point. He has won multiple winter workout awards already this off-season, which speaks to his athleticism. It’s an easy comparison and he wears the number 9, it’s hard not to see a young Trace McSorley in Beau. All that being said, he carries a very important role on the 2023 team, if something happens to Allar, Pribula needs to be ready to come into the game and make some plays. I hope to see him in “garbage time” as the 2023 season progresses, so we can really see what he has to offer Penn State football beyond this season.
