For the first time since the 2019 season, Penn State football will have a new starting quarterback. All of Nittany Nation has bought into the hype surrounding Sophomore QB Drew Allar.

The 2021 season taught us the importance of an experienced backup QB. When Penn State had #3 Iowa on the ropes at Kinnick Stadium, but after a Sean Clifford game-ending injury, Penn State turned to Ta’Quan Roberson. It was clear during that game that he was not prepared for that moment. However, in his defense it was a very challenging spot to be in. For the 2023 quarterback room, the only member who has taken meaningful snaps in a game is Drew Allar. Who even he, has limited game reps.
