Breaking: Penn State Football lands highly touted 4-star offensive tackle on NSD
Penn State Football ended the 2023 recruiting cycle with a bang on Wednesday
Penn State Football usually isn’t a big player on National Signing Day, but that was not the case this year with 4-star OT Chimdy Onoh joining the fold.
The 6-foot-5, 270-pound offensive tackle from Maryland picked the Nittany Lions over the likes of Michigan State, Rutgers and Ole Miss.
Onoh is one of the more intriguing recruits in the entire 2023 cycle. Back in December, he was committed to Old Dominion and wasn’t even ranked by the recruiting sites. By mid-December, Onoh had backed off of his commitment and started to receive Power 5 interest.
Penn State was one of the schools to show interest in Onoh, offering him in December. The Nittany Lions worked quickly to get him on campus for an official visit in January after he did not sign in December.
Meanwhile, Onoh was seeing his stock soar as he went from unranked to the No. 149 player in the 247 Sports rankings in less than two months.
Back in August, Penn State missed out on its top two uncommitted offensive tackle targets in Evan Link and Stanton Ramil. In the end, Onoh ended up ranked higher than both, sometimes things just workout.
Onoh caps off what can be considered an elite offensive line haul for the Nittany Lions. Onoh joins 5-star Jven Williams, high 4-star Alex Birchmeier and 4-star Anthony Donkoh as the offensive linemen in the 2023 class. It’s been a while since a Penn State football recruiting class was headlined by the offensive line, but that was the case with 2023 class.
Penn State Football finishes the 2023 recruiting class with 23 commits and the No. 13 class in the nation. This class is a great complement to the 2022 class which finished No. 6 in the national rankings.
