Key takeaways from No. 1 Penn State Wrestling’s big win over No. 2 Iowa on Friday night at the Bryce Jordan Center

The Penn State Wrestling Team proved once again who the king is in collegiate wrestling as they upended the No. 2 Hawkeyes in front of a sold-out Bryce Jordan Center crowd on Friday night.

The 23-14 final score was probably a little closer than most Penn State fans would have liked to see, but in the end the experience and talent for the Nittany Lions were clutch and they delivered.

So let’s dive into a couple of quick takeaways stemming from the big Penn State Wrestling victory.

Takeaways from Iowa dual meet

A win is a win

Following Penn State’s win, there was a decent amount of grumblings on the interwebs about what transpired in the dual meet and there was even some questioning coaching decisions.

I get it, as I already alluded to, this dual was very close and there were many moments throughout where had one or two things gone the Hawkeyes way, they very well could have won. But those things didn’t go Iowa’s way and the Nittany Lions did win.

I also understand that there was a large chunk of the dual meet where it just wasn’t pretty to watch. A lot of tie ups, stalemates, out of bounds resets, and wrestlers running away from each other. More on this next.

But in the end Penn State Wrestling extends their undefeated dual meet streak to 39.
