OT Kevin Heywood

Penn State’s first two 2024 commits are in-state targets, a third could be on the way in 4-star OT Kevin Heywood.

Listed at 6-foot-7 and 290 pounds, Heywood has the perfect frame for an offensive tackle.

Rated as the No. 19 offensive tackle in the 247 Sports Composite, Heywood attends Archbishop Wood in Warminster.

While Penn State should feel good about its chances, the competition is stiff. Heywood’s other offers include Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Despite other strong suitors, this is a recruitment the Nittany Lions must win. The offensive line play has improved greatly under Phil Trautwein, and he can sell Heywood on being the next Olu Fashanu, who is expected to be one of, if not the best, offensive tackles in the country in 2023.

Moreover, Heywood is right in Penn State’s backyard. Finding offensive tackles with this kind of size is rare and the Nittany Lions have one right in their own state.

Penn State has done a great job of keeping in-state talent home between the 2022, 2023 and now 2024 classes. That must continue with one of the best offensive tackles that Penn State has a realistic chance with.
