Penn State Football has added some major contributors the past few years through the transfer portal

Penn State Football has benefitted greatly from the transfer portal this offseason, but some work still remains.

The Nittany Lions added one of the best wide receivers in the portal in Kent State transfer Dante Cephas on Sunday. Cephas will help lessen the blow of Penn State losing both Parker Washington and Mitchell Tinsley.

To replace Joey Porter Jr., Penn State picked up North Carolina cornerback transfer Storm Duck back in December. Another key move was adding FAU punter Riley Thompson as Barney Amor is out of eligibility.

These moves will undoubtedly make the Nittany Lions better in 2023. James Franklin picks his spots when it comes to adding to the portal. He makes sure the player is a fit both on and off the field. Over the last three years, Franklin has a high hit rate when it comes to the portal.

This has been a strong offseason so far for Penn State football, but the job isn’t finished yet. Here are three more needs the Nittany Lions can fill via the portal.
