Three takeaways from Dante Cephas’ commitment to Penn State Football
2. Giving Allar Weapons
For the first time since the start of the 2019 season, Penn State Football will have a new quarterback in 2023.
That quarterback is to-be sophomore Drew Allar.
A former 5-star recruit, there is a lot of hype around Allar and what he is capable of. Many fans have said that Allar is the ‘franchise’ quarterback James Franklin has been missing.
While that may be true, Allar can’t do it by himself, he needs weapons to throw to.
Losing Washington, Tinsley and Strange is a big blow for Allar, as it would give him three talented and experienced receivers that he could target in critical situations. Cephas can now fill that void.
Cephas will be in his fifth college season in 2023, making him the most experienced receiver on Penn State’s roster. Cephas’ production over the last two seasons can also not be overlooked. Cephas has hauled in 130 passes over the last two seasons in just 23 games.
Cephas is experienced and productive, making him the perfect addition for his new young quarterback.
Matching Cephas with KeAndre Lambert-Smith at wide receiver with Theo Johnson back at tight end, gives the Nittany Lions a strong supporting cast for Allar along with the running back duo of Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen.
