Penn State Football added a big piece to the 2023 roster on Sunday evening.
Dante Cephas announced his commitment to Penn State Football on Sunday, giving the Nittany Lions a big playmaker for 2023.
The Kent State transfer entered the portal at the beginning of December, and the Nittany Lions wasted little time identifying the Pittsburgh native as a big-time target.
Penn State moved on Cephas quick, offering him just days after he entered the portal and got him on campus for an official visit as soon as possible. The Nittany Lions ended up being Cephas’ first official visit, but he did not commit right away. This led to some nervousness by Penn State fans.
Ironically, there was more nervousness around Cephas on Sunday night when wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield announced he would not be back in 2023. But Cephas calmed those nerves by committing to the Nittany Lions just an hour later.
It’s worth noting that Cephas likely will not enroll at Penn State this semester. He will likely stay at Kent State and graduate in the Spring. That will make his transfer process easier as he would be a grad transfer.
This is a significant addition for Penn State Football and its 2023 roster, there’s no other way to put it. The Nittany Lions needed a wide receiver, and they got one of the best in the portal.
Let’s take a look at why this commitment means so much for Penn State football.
