Penn State Football has plenty of work left to do with its 2023 roster

Penn State Football had another busy day on Thursday with players entering the portal and new offers going out to transfer targets.

The transfer portal has everyone’s attention, but high school recruiting is still a thing and the 2023 cycle still isn’t over. Even though the Nittany Lions signed 22 recruits back in December, the job may not be done yet.

Let’s get to the news.

Chimdy Onoh Puts Penn State in Top 4

Thought the 2023 class was over? Not so fast. Penn State football made the top four for 4-star offensive tackle Chimdy Onoh on Thursday. The late riser from Maryland had been committed to old Dominon but reopened his recruitment right before the early signing period back in December.

Penn State joins Rutgers, Ole Miss and Michigan State in the top group from the 6-foot-6, 270-pound offensive tackle. He is currently rated as the No. 28 offensive tackle in the 247 Sports Composite and would be the fourth blue-chip offensive line recruit for Penn State in the 2023 class.

Mulbah Enters the Portal

Penn State defensive tackle Fatorma Mulbah announced he was entering the transfer portal on Thursday. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 296 pounds, Mulbah was one of the bigger defensive tackles on the roster but didn’t see much action. The redshirt sophomore played in 12 games but did not record any tackles.

With P.J. Mustipher moving on, the Nittany Lions may look to the transfer portal to add some beef to its defensive tackle group.

Andrel Anthony Receives Penn State Offer

Michigan wide receiver Andrel Anthony entered the portal on Wednesday and on Thursday the to be junior announced Penn State extended an offer to him. The Nittany Lions certainly were not alone as Anthony also announced offers from Oklahoma, Miami, Pitt, South Carolina, Cal, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Purdue, Notre Dame, UCLA, Arizona, Michigan State and Auburn.

Needless to say, Anthony is going to have plenty of suitors in the portal. He was once a target of the Nittany Lions back in the 2021 cycle. That could either work in their favor thanks to an existing relationship or hurt them due to Anthony wanting something different.
