Penn State Football has started to improve its roster for the 2023 season via the transfer portal

Penn State Football received some good news on Wednesday afternoon when transfer cornerback Storm Duck announced his transfer to the Nittany Lions.

Duck had spent the first four years of his college career at North Carolina. In those four seasons, he accumulated 103 tackles and five interceptions.

This past season was a breakout year for Duck as he recorded 46 tackles, three interceptions and nine pass breakups.

The Nittany Lions were looking for more depth at cornerback with Joey Porter Jr. moving on the NFL and Jeffrey Davis Jr. entering the transfer portal. Kalen King and Johnny Dixon are expected to start for the Nittany Lions in 2023, but the depth behind them was not the best.

Duck is originally from South Carolina and was a 3-star in the 2019 recruiting cycle. He did not receive a Penn State football offer during his originally recruitment but earned a second look thanks to his play at North Carolina.

He is listed at 6-foot and 205 pounds and was a Second Team All-ACC selection this past season. He entered the transfer portal on Dec. 7 and took just three weeks to find a new home.

He joins FAU punter transfer Riley Thompson as the second transfer picked up by the Nittany Lions this offseason. With these two needs filled, the majority of the attention will turn to wide receiver in the transfer portal.

Penn State has become more aggressive in the transfer portal the last two seasons, and it looks like this offseason will be no different. This is a big get for James Franklin and his staff as they load up for a run in 2023.

Duck will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Nittany Lions.
