1. RB Cameron Wallace

Running back Cameron Wallace is currently the lowest ranked recruit in Penn State’s 2023 class, but he has a chance to have the earliest impact.

Now, saying a running back will have an early impact in the 2023 with Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen set to return may sound crazy, but their greatness may be exactly why Wallace plays early.

Singleton returned kicks for the Nittany Lions this year, and he was good at it. But Penn State may opt to protect its star running back going forward.

The speedy Wallace could be the perfect replacement for Singleton in the return game. Making Wallace the kick returner keeps Singleton out of the line of fire and gives Wallace a chance to contribute right away.

Wallace could also factor into the running back rotation. It’s still not official whether Keyvone Lee will return for his senior season or not yet. Moreover, fellow 2023 signee London Montgomery is still recovering from a season-ending injury he suffered in August.

That means the Goergia native could realistically be RB3 for the Nittany Lions to start the 2023 season. With Penn State playing West Virginia and Delaware to start the year before a couple tough Big Ten games. James Franklin may try to protect his star running backs early in the season.

That means more touches for Wallace.
