2. A Rose Bowl Win

Penn State will face Utah in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 2.

This is a big game for the Nittany Lions. They haven’t won a bowl game since 2019 and are yet to beat a ranked team this season. Both of those things would be crossed off the list with a victory over Utah.

Penn State has only won one Rose Bowl, and that was on New Year’s Day 1995. It would be nice to add another trophy to the shelf.

Winning this game will also give the Nittany Lions even more momentum heading into the 2023 season. Even though it’s not the Playoff, a New Year’s Six Bowl game win is a big deal.

Franklin would also like to win this game. His bowl record at Penn State sits at 3-4. While his record in NY6 bowls is 2-1, Franklin would certainly like to improve this record. Getting to .500 would be a nice start.

Winning this game would also be a great way to send off plenty of great Penn State players playing in their last game for the Nittany Lions. Most notably the likes of QB Sean Clifford, DT P.J. Mustipher and Saf. Ji’Ayir Brown.
