Three things Penn State Football still could do in the 2023 recruiting cycle
3. Defensive back
If Penn State football really wanted to find a replacement for Hussey, it has a couple options.
Rodrick Pleasant is the highest rated cornerback that didn’t sign during the early period, he also so happens to have a Penn State offer. Now, Pleasant is from California and hasn’t shown a lot of interest in Penn State publicly. But now that the Nittany Lions have an open spot, they could try to push for Pleasant and see if he would visit in January.
The 4-star did take an official visit to Boston College, so coming to the East Coast may not be a hurdle for him in his recruitment.
Two other cornerbacks that Penn State offered currently don’t have a home. They are Kyle Chen and Ethan Nation. Neither has been linked to Penn State outside of receiving an offer though.
Safety seems like a more difficult pull at this time.
Only one safety ranked in the top 60 safety rankings didn’t sign during the early period. That was TCU commit Warren Roberson. The 4-star from Texas does not have a Penn State offer, so there’s no relationship here and no reason to think Penn State will go after Roberson.
Once again, if Penn State Football wants to add, it may be through the portal.
