It hasn’t exactly been all doom and gloom for the Scarlet Knights so far this year. I know you will find this absolutely unbelievable, but I predicted it might not be the best year for Rutgers following one of their best seasons in school history.
I know. I told you it would be hard to believe that I was wrong once.
As the numbers state above, Rutgers is 6-1 this year with their lone loss coming at the hands of No. 12 Arizona State (25-16) in the Liberty HS Showcase on November 12th.
The Scarlet Knights have taken down Clarion (29-4), Sacred Heart (50-0), Stanford (20-15), No. 26 Penn (19-12), Drexel (26-13), and Princeton (17-16). It’s official, Princeton is this year’s Big Ten punching bag.
One of the biggest reasons for Rutgers’ success this year lies with the trio of ranked freshman who have made immediate impacts. Dean Peterson (125), Tony White (149), and Boone McDermott (285) have put together a combined 27-6 record and they have helped bolster a lineup which has holes in it due to underperformance and injuries.
Next up for Rutgers are the Midlands Championships on December 29th and 30th.
