The Spartans remain in the 12th spot in this edition of the Power Rankings even though InterMat has them ranked a spot below the aforementioned Boilermakers. But I believe Michigan State is better than Purdue, they are trending up, and they may even make a further jump in the rankings by the end of the season.
Sparty started out the dual season with wins over Davidson (52-0), Presbyterian (46-3), and American (33-0) and then took second place in the Navy Classic on November 19th.
Then Michigan State kept their perfect dual record when they dispatched Binghamton (29-6), Princeton (21-15), and Brown in the Garden State Grapple tri-duals. Man, Princeton really must enjoy losing to the bottom feeders of the Big Ten this season.
Collegiate wrestling fans will have a much better idea for how good Michigan State is going to be this year once they start the Big Ten schedule.
Next up for the Spartans is the Reno Tournament of Champions on December 18th in Reno, Nevada.
