The Wolverines have also been light on their dual matches in the first half of the 2022-2023 season.
Michigan started the year by taking part in the Michigan State Open, then they got the ball rolling with a win against Campbell (26-6), a road win against No. 17 UNC (23-12), and a home win against Columbia (38-6). The Wolverines were also participants in the 2022 Cliff Keen and they ended up finishing fourth, which is very respectable considering how much talent this team lost from the prior season.
I’m honestly surprised Michigan is even in the top six of the Big Ten after the losses of Nick Suriano, Stevan Micic, Kanen Storr, Logan Massa, Myles Amine, and Patrick Brucki.
You could slap myself and three of my friend on a team with those guys and we could maybe still be ranked in the top 30 in the nation. But that’s only if the NCAA would give us exemptions to allow four heavyweights to wrestle any of the weight classes. That’s probably a discussion for a different day.
Where was I? Oh yeah, Michigan.
The Wolverines have a road battle against Cal Poly on January 6th in San Luis Obispo, California.
