It’s taken us 10 teams to finally reach the first Big Ten team with all of their starters being ranked. And this year’s version of Minnesota could be a problem for a lot of the other teams in the Big Ten.

The Golden Gophers have been very active in their early season dual schedule in already having seven matches under their belts. They also have seven wins in the process, with some of them being eye opening.

Minnesota began the year with both the Bison Open and the Daktronics Open in early November. They then started the dual meet portion of their schedule with wins against Binghamton (19-15), No. 22 South Dakota State (19-16), Augustana (37-4), No. 11 Oklahoma State (18-12), No. 18 North Dakota State (24-9), Lindenwood (48-6), and No. 28 Cal Poly (22-12).

Beating Oklahoma State in Stillwater is an impressive feat just by itself. But the Golden Gophers also now own the Dakotas by taking out both North Dakota State and South Dakota State.

It’s been a great start to the year for Brandon Eggum and his staff and Minnesota is looking to continue their upward trajectory.

The Southern Scuffle on January 1st and 2nd are next on the agenda for the Golden Gophers.
