3. Not being content
Penn State Football had a really good linebacker haul with Rojas and Robinson. The Nittany Lions could have decided that was good enough.
Instead, Penn State stayed after Keys and did everything it could to improve the roster. Now, Penn State arguably has the second best linebacker haul in the country behind Georgia, who is slated to sign the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 linebackers in the 247 Sports rankings.
If Penn State wants to take the next step as a program, it cannot stay content. The Nittany lions have to make moves like this and go after every talented player they can.
The same can be said in the case of Daniel Harris. The Nittany Lions already have six defensive backs committed, but with a 4-star like Harris on the board, why would you not go after him?
All of the teams consistently in the Playoff (Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State) don’t just have blue-chip recruits as starters. The second team, even the third string, at these programs are mostly filled with former high-profile recruits.
If Penn State wants to get to the top like those programs, they need to load up on talent, and James Franklin knows it.
