Penn State Football: Ranking the 3 Biggest Wins of the Season
By Andrew Adair
Biggest Win #1
Penn State started its Big Ten schedule on the road for the millionth time in a row this season. Purdue was a dark horse candidate to win the Big Ten West. The game would be the first of three color outs that Penn State would face on the road as Purdue went with a Black Out.
The game was a back-and-forth affair that offered fans their closest game of the season. Quarterback Sean Clifford threw a pick-six to give Purdue the lead with eight minutes left in the game.
Clifford would then lead the biggest drive of his career and threw a touchdown to Running Back Keyvonne Lee with under a minute left in the game to retake the lead. An absolute thriller to start the season.
The defense stifled one of the better Quarterbacks in the Big Ten and forced 29 incompletions. Joey Porter Jr. made waves by causing six pass breakups and recovering a key fumble that led to a touchdown just before halftime.
Penn State defeated a Purdue team that is playing in a Conference Championship. Without this win, it feels like the season could of went off the rails early. You can’t go 1-0 without the first win.
