Penn State Football: Here are the Nittany Lions who received Big Ten honors

Defense

CB Joey Porter Jr.

Joey Porter Jr. announced on Wednesday that he will enter the NFL Draft, this announcement comes on the heels of him being named to the First Team All-Big Ten by both the media and coaches. In 10 games this year, Porter had 27 tackles and 11 pass defends. He did not have an interception, but that’s because teams didn’t even bother to try to throw in his direction.

DT P.J. Mustipher

Fifth year senior defensive tackle P.J. Mustipher was named Second Team All-Big Ten by the coaches and Third Team by the media. Mutipher had 33 tackles on the season with 0.5 for loss. He was a key reason why Penn State’s defense only gave up 3.2 yards per rush.

DE Adisa Isaac

Redshirt junior Adisa Isaac was named to the Third Team All-Big Ten by the coaches and was an honorable mention by the media. Isaac had a productive season, recording 23 tackles, nine tackles for loss and four sacks.

LB Abdul Carter

Breakout freshman Abdul Carter was named to the Second Team All-Big Ten by the media and Third Tea, by the coaches. The linebacker had 55 tackles with 10.5 for loss and 6.5 sacks. he also had two forced fumbles.

S Ji’Ayir Brown

Star safety Ji’Ayir Brown was named to the Third Team All-Big Ten by both the media and coaches. Brown led the team in tackles with 66 and in interceptions with three. He also had 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and two forced fumbles. Third Team with these stats is a bit perplexing.

CB Kalen King

Penn State’s other starting cornerback, Kalen King was named Third Team All-Big Ten by both the media and coaches. King had 27 tackles, two interceptions and led the team with 16 pass defends. The sophomore will be the star of the secondary next season.

DE Chop Robinson

Defensive end Chop Robinson was named an honorable mention by both the media and coaches. The Maryland transfer had 23 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and four sacks this season.

LB Curtis Jacobs 

Junior linebacker Curtis Jacobs was named an honorable mention by both the media and coaches. Jacobs had 47 tackles with 5.5 for loss, two sacks and a pick-6 interception. It’s still unclear if he will return next season.

DE Nick Tarburton 

Redshirt senior defensive end Nick Tarburton was named an honorable mention by the coaches. Tarburton had 18 tackles with 5.5 for loss and two sacks. He also had a fumble recovery.

CB Johnny Dixon

Johnny Dixon, who is expected to start opposite of Kalen King next season, was named an honorable mention by the media. Dixon had 20 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two interceptions and nine pass defends.
