Penn State Football will look to take another step forward in 2023 after a 10-2 campaign in 2022.

The transfer portal will open next week, and Penn State Football should have its eyes on improving its roster even more.

After originally being skeptical of the transfer portal, James Franklin has used the portal to his advantage the past two off-seasons. Key members of Penn State’s 2022 team that were acquired via the transfer portal include OL Hunter Nourzad, WR Mitchell Tinsley, CB Johnny Dixon and DE Chop Robinson.

While the Nittany Lions have taken a step forward in recruiting, the portal is a great way to complement those talented classes. It’s hard to have a perfect recruiting class, so the portal helps fix the misses.

With that said, here are three positions that Penn State Football should target in the transfer portal to help improve the roster for 2023 and beyond.
