Penn State Football: Olu Fashanu makes his decision for 2023
By Andrew Adair
Penn State Football received great news today concerning one of its draft-eligible players. The Olu Fashanu decision will fortify the blindside of Penn States’ future.
With the regular season concluded, it usually takes a couple of weeks before we hear about the future of Penn States’ draft-eligible players. Penn State Offensive Lineman Olu Fashanu isn’t following those timelines.
Olu Fashanu has made a decision about his future. He will be coming back to anchor the offensive line for the Nittany Lions in 2023. This news is somewhat unexpected as the 19-year-old Offensive Tackle has been quickly climbing up draft boards.
The decision to come back to Penn State next season has huge ramifications for the Nittany Lions. Without a doubt, Olu Fashanu was the best offensive lineman that Penn State had this season. His presence was severely missed as he missed the last four games of the season with an undisclosed injury.
Penn State Head Coach James Franklin had this to say about his star Offensive Lineman returning for the 2023 season.
"“We couldn’t be more excited to have Olu return for the 2023 season, He is a person of high character who exemplifies our core values, leads by example, and models what it means to be a complete Penn State student-athlete. We will continue to work extremely hard to help Olu achieve all of his goals on and off the field and look forward to another season with him and his family in Happy Valley.”–Penn State Head Coach James Franklin"
Next season, Penn State will welcome in the Drew Allar era and will have Olu Fashanu there to protect his blindside. The Penn State rushing attack of Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen will also benefit from the return of the redshirt sophomore.
There are still a lot of decisions that will be made by Penn State players this offseason. The first decision of Olu Fashanu returning for another season will work in the favor of the 2023 Nittany Lion team.
