3. Try the young guys

We know that Penn State Football still has two wide receiver options it trusts in Mitchell Tinsley and KeAndre Lambert-Smith, but it’s hard to get by with just two wide receivers.

Some young guys that could be in for an increased role are Harrison Wallace, Omari Evans and Liam Clifford. Clifford especially, because he plays the slot like Washington.

Wallace has the most experience of the group. The redshirt freshman has 16 catches for 222 yards and a touchdown this season. He’s had a few drops this year but has the size and athleticism that the rest of the wide receivers on the team lack. If it clicks for Wallace, he could become a special player.

Clifford, the younger brother of quarterback Sean Clifford, has eight catches for 89 yards on the year. Most of it has come in mop up duty, but he did see an increased role against Rutgers last week with Washington sidelined. His ability to play the slot is what will make him valuable in these last two games.

The true freshman Evans has played in 11 games this season, meaning his redshirt is gone. Evans has five catches for 55 yards and a touchdown on the year. Because of his speed, the Nittany Lions have used Evans mainly as a deep threat. So far, only one has been connected on, but with more playing time more opportunities to make a splash play will come.
