1. 4-star Rodney Gallagher

Could Penn State football go the flip route in order to replace Shakir?

If there’s a receiver in the region that Penn State can flip, it may be West Virginia commit Rodney Gallagher.

Gallagher committed to West Virginia over Penn State in the spring, but things have not gone well in Morgantown since his commitment. The Mountaineers are just 4-7 this season and have to travel to Oklahoma State to finish the season, they will likely finish 4-8.

A 4-8 season could spell the end for West Virginia head coach Neal Brown. This is year four for Brown and the Mountaineers are seemingly going backwards. Overall, Brown has a 21-25 record at West Virginia.

Gallagher is from Pennsylvania, but he does live much closer to West Virginia than Penn State. Playing his high school ball at Uniontown. This, along with the fact that West Virginia can offer more early playing time, could keep him with West Virginia regardless of who the coach is.

Gallagher is a talented prospect and he’s in Penn State’s home state. The Nittany Lions should continue to push here, especially now that they must fill a spot.
