We know by now that the defense is the lifeblood of the Penn State Football team. The defense has been stingy all season through the air and has outperformed expectations against the run.

Rutgers has failed to score double-digit points against Penn State in the last seven meetings. Yes, you read that right. 2014 was the last time that Rutgers was able to put more than ten points on the board (it was exactly ten points in 2014).

Bold Prediction #2

The Penn State Defense will outscore the Rutgers offense.

I know, I know. It sounds crazy. But, when a team hasn’t scored more than a touchdown against you in seven years, you swing big on the predictions.

Rutgers is breaking in a new Quarterback with Gavin Wimsatt now fully entrenched as the starter. Wimsatt has shown flashes of competency but, currently has more turnovers than touchdowns.

This prediction will be based on the secondary taking a wayward pass from Wimsatt the other way for six. Kalen King and Ji’Ayir Brown are prime candidates to make this prediction successful.

Heck, with Penn State getting pressure on the Quarterback more and more, let’s throw a couple of names out there for a sack, fumble, and return for a touchdown. Chop Robinson and Dani Dennis-Sutton are very capable of helping with this prediction.
