Can Penn State Football still finish with a top ten recruiting class?
3. 4-star RB Christopher Johnson (268.91)
With London Montgomery coming off of an ACL injury and Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen looking like the only two running backs coming back next season, Penn State needs another running back in this class.
One of the few remaining running backs that Penn State has an offer out to that isn’t currently committed is Christopher Johnson from Florida. Johnson is ranked as the No. 20 running back in the country for 2023.
Johnson received his Penn State offer in May, but it doesn’t look like he’s visited yet. He was just at Ole Miss though, and the Rebels look like a serious contender in this one. That could obviously change if Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin does in fact take the Auburn coaching vacancy.
In terms of recruiting rankings, Johnson looks like the best-case scenario remaining for Penn State at running back. Penn State running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider recruits the state of Florida as well as anyone. It’s hard to count out the Nittany Lions as long as Seider is around.
If Penn State Football added Johnson to this class, with the other two just mentioned, the point total would go to 268.91, which would currently be good for No. 11 in the country.
