After two tough seasons, Penn State football is hoping to return to a big-time bowl game in 2022.

Penn State football is currently 8-2 and has two winnable games against Rutgers and Michigan State remaining on its schedule.

The Nittany Lions would like to get back to a New Year’s Six bowl game after not reaching one in the past two seasons. Before that, Penn State had played in three New Year’s Six games in four seasons.

While two losses have taken the Nittany Lions out of the playoff conversation, a 10-2 season with a New Year’s Six appearance would be a welcomed sight after going 11-11 the two seasons prior.

Penn State football benefitted from the fact that multiple teams ahead of it in the rankings lost this past weekend. Oregon, Ole Miss and UCLA all lost on Saturday. The Nittany Lions should leapfrog the three of them. Penn State was at No. 14 in last week’s College Football Playoff standings, it should move to No. 11 on Tuesday night.

While the new rankings are yet to come out, new bowl predictions have dropped following this past weekend’s game action. Here’s where some have the Nittany Lions playing in the postseason.
