Penn State Football: The benefits of making a NY6 Bowl game

More Practice
The first, and perhaps most important, is it lays the foundation for the following campaign.
In between the end of the regular season and the New Year, teams are able to get in two or more weeks of practice. While this may not seem all that important initially, the benefits of that extra preparation simply cannot be overstated.
Specifically, it gives Drew Allar another couple of weeks to continue taking reps with the first string and various potential starters in ’23. There are a couple of redshirts (see Anthony Ivey and Tyler Johnson) at the wide receiver position that could use this time to get ready to have a big spring.
Listening to the television announcers today, Spencer Tillman stated that Manny Diaz’s defense was one of the most complicated in all of football and it was the level of sophistication that made it so difficult to scheme against. With terminology and stunts so difficult to learn, there is never enough time to learn a system this difficult, but an extra couple of weeks would most definitely help.
