Following the end of last season, Michigan lost the services of Nick Suriano, Myles Amine, and Patrick Brucki. That’s an NCAA Champion, an NCAA runner-up, and a previous All-American. And as they say, those things don’t exactly grow on trees.

The Wolverines had their chance to win the title last year, but they simply fell short due to injuries, under performances, and some bad luck. But Sean Bormet and company are now in full-on rebuild mode which means they may take some lumps this season.

Like Northwestern, Michigan sent a handful of wrestlers to the 2022 Michigan State Open. And the results were pretty impressive.

Cole Mattin won the title at 141 and Mason Parris won the title at 285 (not really shocking there). Rylan Rogers took home the title at 184 in the freshman/sophomore division and Ira Jenkins was crowned the champion at 285 in the same division. Matt Finesilver also had a good showing as he finished runner-up at 184 to Ohio State’s Kaleb Romero.

The Wolverines are set to travel to North Carolina on November 11th to participate in the Battle at Bragg against Campbell. Michigan then drives down the road to Chapel Hill to take on the No. 18 ranked Tar Heels two days later.
