Penn State Football: causes for concern vs the Maryland Terrapins
By Nick Kreiser
Maryland’s return game
The Maryland kick return game is respectable, but not as much of a concern as their punt return game if you’re a Penn State Football fan.
Tarheeb Still–a defensive back for the Terrapins who doubles as their punt returner–leads the Big Ten in yards per punt return with 8.7.
He hasn’t yet broken one for a touchdown, but if you’re a pessimist, you could say that means he’s due for one. A long return could be enough to give Maryland some momentum in this one and keep them in the game.
If not a long return, if Still consistently has solid returns where he can give the Terps good starting field position, that’s not helpful either.
Of course, this could all be avoided if the Nittany Lions can successfully move the ball and score points as opposed to having to punt, but it’s probably a safe bet to assume they’ll punt at least once or twice.
Allowing a big return by Tarheeb Still could be the difference in this one if the punt coverage unit doesn’t take care of business.
