Penn State and some fellow Big Ten East teams continue to look like the cream of the crop in the conference.

One thing has become quite clear, the East division runs the Big Ten and probably will until realignment.

The big upset of the week was Michigan State beating Illinois 23-15. This was the team fifth in the standings in the Big Ten East beating the team first in the standings in the West. This game really showed the difference between the two divisions.

Multiple games were impacted by extreme weather conditions that including rain and wind gusts that exceeded 50 MPH. This led to the Ohio State vs Northwestern game being closer than expected, but also helped Wisconsin’s powerful ground game overtake Maryland.

As teams get desperate to fight for bowl eligibility, we will see their best effort being brought forward, which could lead to an upset or two in the final three weeks of action.

Before looking ahead to that, here’s where things stand in the Big Ten after another week of games.
