2. 4-star Michael Van Buren

A little closer to home is 4-star Michael Van Buren in Maryland.

Rated as the No. 8 quarterback in the country, Van Buren attends St. Frances Academy in Baltimore. St. Frances is one of the most successful football powerhouses on the east coast, but it’s a school Penn State has struggled to recruit at.

Van Buren has similar size to Davis, being listed at 6-foot and 180 pounds. These guys are quite different from Allar, who is listed at 6-foot-5.

Van Buren still has national interest like Davis, but not nearly to the same extent. With 17 offers, Van Buren has looks from Alabama, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma and Oregon. This is a much more winnable recruitment for Penn State football considering Alabama is probably out of the picture now.

Since receiving his Penn State offer last October, Van Buren has been a frequent visitor to Penn State over the last year. He came up twice over the offseason and then was back this past weekend for the Ohio State game.

Despite the overall struggles with St. Frances, Penn State should feel good about its chances with Van Buren. He’s a regional recruit and has been a frequent visitor to campus.

It doesn’t seem like Van Buren is close to a decision- and he shouldn’t be considering his offer list could expand if the dominos start to fall- but he’s certainly one to watch.
