Penn State Football Recruiting: Who will be the quarterback in the 2024 class?
Penn State football has rejuvenated its quarterback recruiting under offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich.
Penn State football has Drew Allar as its quarterback for the future, but what about the future’s future?
The Nittany Lions added a second quarterback in their 2022 class in 3-star Beau Pribula. Penn State also has filled the quarterback void in the 2023 class with Jaxon Smolik.
This gives Penn State football a quality quarterback room for the next few years, but if the Nittany Lions want to compete nationally, they need to land more quarterbacks at Allar’s level.
Penn State’s next opportunity to land a top-level quarterback recruit will be the 2024 class. It is important that Penn State lands a solid quarterback in this class, because if all goes well, Allar will move on after the 2024 season.
Pribula and Smolik will certainly battle for the job, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see one of them win the job. Having a four- or five-star recruit coming off a redshirt season could be what helps the Nittany Lions take the next step as a program though.
While it may seem early in the 2024 cycle, the quarterback dominoes are always the first to fall in a recruiting cycle. On Wednesday, 5-star quarterback Julian Sayin committed to Alabama, becoming the second significant 2024 quarterback to commit, following Dylan Raiola, who is committed to Ohio State.
Now is the time for the Nittany Lions to close in on their guy.
Here’s a look at the early options for Penn State football to fill the quarterback spot in the 2024 class and what the Nittany Lions’ chances are if they decide to push.
