The Big Ten conference is starting to see the contenders break away from the pretenders after nine weeks of action.

The Big Ten is making the argument to have two representatives in this year’s College Football Playoff with the way a few teams are playing.

Ohio State and Michigan both had tough challenges this week and each handled it well. Illinois continues to break away from the pack in the West division with another victory as well.

With only four weeks remaining, the margin of error for the Big Ten championship hopefuls is slim. It looks like the East will officially come down to the Week 13 matchup between Ohio State and Michigan as Penn State is now out of the race.

In the West, the likes of Minnesota and Purdue are doing all they can to keep pace with Illinois. The matchup in two weeks between Illinois and Purdue could decide the fate of that division.

Before looking ahead to all the exciting things to come, let’s take a look back at this past week of action.
