Penn State Football Recruiting: The most important visitors this weekend
1. 4-star QB Michael Van Buren (2024)
Penn State football does not have a quarterback commit in its 2024 class, but it does not lack options.
One of the top targets is 4-star Michael Van Buren. Van Buren is from Baltimore and attends St. Frances Academy. St. Frances is arguably the most talented high school program in Maryland, but it’s a school the Nittany Lions have failed to have success at on the recruiting trail.
Van Buren is listed at 6-foot and 180 pounds and is rated as the No. 8 quarterback in the country in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports Composite. He is a top 100 player in the class and would give the Nittany Lions a possible replacement for Drew Allar down the road.

Van Buren holds offers from Alabama, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon and Wisconsin. He will have no shortage of suitors as his recruitment goes on.
He has been to Penn State before, most recently he visited a couple times over the winter for junior day recruiting events. Van Buren is one of a handful of top quarterback targets that the Nittany Lions are currently evaluating.
The likes of 5-star Jadyn Davis and 4-star Jayden Bradford are also in the mix for Penn State.
