Penn State vs Ohio State: Everything you need to know
Announcers
This game will be featured on Fox as the Big Noon game of the week.
Fox has made an effort to put its best game at noon the past few seasons with CBS controlling the 3:30 p.m. slot and ABC dominating primetime. It’s not a bad strategy, but it leads to a lot of great games being played at an undesirable time.
As usual, Big Noon will feature Fox’s A-team of Gus Johnson (play by play), Joel Klatt (analyst) and Jenny Taft (sideline). Penn State fans should be more than used to this crew by this point as they have already called two Penn State games this season, Purdue and Michigan.
The best memory Penn State fans have of this crew is the 2016 Big Ten Championship game. Johnson and Klatt were on the call, but Taft was not a part of the team at that point.
Johnson famously gave Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley the nickname ‘The Wizard’ during that game. A nickname that stuck around but never became the go-to reference for McSorley.
This group has unfortunately also been on the call for some heartbreaking moments, most recently the Iowa game last season.
Some Penn State fans may be sick of this crew by now, but as long as Fox still has rights to the Big Ten, a lot of key games are going to be played at noon and called by Johnson, Klatt and Taft.
