Penn State football will take on Minnesota under the lights this Saturday at Beaver Stadium.

There isn’t much time for Penn State football to get over the loss to Michigan as it hosts Minnesota for the White Out this Saturday.

The White Out is one of the greatest traditions in college football and always has the attention of the national media. The Nittany Lions use it as an advantage on the field to win the game, but also use the game as a huge recruiting tool.

With so much attention on the game, ABC usually sends its ‘A Team’ of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Holly Rowe to Happy Valley. That will not be the case this year.

That could be due to the fact that the Nittany Lions are no longer undefeated, or because Minnesota has two losses, it’s probably a combination of both.

Instead, ABC will send Joe Tessitore (play by play), Greg McElroy (analyst) and Katie George (sideline) to Penn State. The game will still be the primetime game on ABC despite not having the usual ABC primetime crew.

Tessitore is a household name amongst most Penn State fans because for years his partner was former Penn State quarterback Todd Blackledge. McElroy’s most notable Penn State game was the 2017 Fiesta Bowl, which he called with Dave Pasch.

There will certainly be an odd feeling to the game for Penn State fans watching at home who are used to hearing the voices of Fowler and Herbstreit during the White Out.

The 5-1 Nittany Lions host the 4-2 Golden Gophers at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday on ABC. This game has a ‘must win’ feel for both squads, as they look to try and stay alive in the Big Ten race.
