Penn State Football records on the cusp of being broken this season

Penn State Football tight end records
Brenton Strange has had a fantastic start to the season, and he’s been one of the six surprises for Penn State through their first five games. As a result, he’s put himself in position to break a few of the school’s records for tight ends.
He has a legit shot to break Mike Gesicki’s record for single season touchdowns by a tight end (nine in 2017), as well as Pat Freiermuth’s record for career touchdowns by a tight end (16).
Strange currently has four touchdown grabs on the year and 10 for his career. So, with six more touchdowns on the season, he would break Gesicki’s single season record and tie Freiermuth’s career record; and with seven, he’d break both.
He’s more than capable of accomplishing both of those if he continues on his current pace, so it would honestly be quite surprising if he didn’t.
Strange also has a good chance to surpass Mike Gesicki’s single season receiving yards by a tight end record, which is 679. Strange currently has 231 yards this year, so he’s got some work to do for that record, but with the season less than halfway over, it’s not out of the realm of possibility–especially if they continue to utilize him a lot.
