3. DE Adisa Isaac

Penn State’s defensive end group looks a lot different than it did last year thanks to Chop Robinson’s transfer, Dani Dennis-Sutton’s enrollment, Amin Vanover’s emergence and Adisa Isaac’s return to health.

Robinson has quickly emerged as one of the best pass rushers in the Big Ten. Today, we’re going to focus on the guy lining up at the other defensive end spot, Isaac.

Isaac is bouncing back from an injury that kept him out of the entire 2021 season. Early in the year, the rust was evident, but Isaac has started to look better and better each week. The bye week will only accelerate his recovery.

So far, Isaac leads the team with 4.5 tackles for loss and has added a sack. Penn State has been getting a ton of pressure this season, it just hasn’t always gotten home. Against the likes of Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio State and Maryland, the pressure needs to result in sacks more often.

Teams are going to pay a lot of attention to Robinson on obvious passing situations. They will double team him and do their best to keep him away from the quarterback. That’s where Isaac will have to step up and make a play.

If the Nittany Lions can get both Robinson and Isaac playing at a high level at the same time, this defense becomes all that much more dangerous.
