Penn State football is on bye this week before entering one of the toughest three game stretches in the history of the program.

Penn State football is currently 5-0 and is enjoying its week off before heading to Michigan for a huge matchup.

The Nittany Lions started the season unranked but have risen all the way up to the No. 10 spot in the AP Poll. Some experts expected Penn State to have one or two losses by this point in the season, but the Nittany Lions have looked strong in games against tough opponents so far this year.

Penn State has been getting contributions from everyone on the roster, from sixth-year senior to true freshmen, from five-star recruits to walk-ons. This mix of veterans and young players has been what is making this team so dynamic and hard to game plan for. Someone new steps up every game.

While receiving contributions from everyone is important, a few players have more responsibilities than most and will be the main reasons this team either has success or not after the bye week.

Here are four players who will help define the second half of the season for Penn State football.
