Taking a look at the Penn State Wrestling 2022-2023 schedule

There are few certainties in life.

Death, taxes, and a horrendous Chris Paul performance in Game 7 of a series in which his team was up 2-0.

Well, we can now add another item to this list: Cue the meme of a skeleton sitting on a park bench holding a newspaper waiting on Penn State wrestling to release it’s annual  schedule.

But fret not Nittany Lion fans, because I scoured the interwebs and searched 64 other teams schedules to come up with Penn State’s 2022-2023 wrestling schedule. Yes, you heard that correctly, 64 team sites.

Hold up.

Penn State Wrestling literally just released their schedule. Maybe they already knew I put in four hours of research. Oh well …

And here it finally is!

Schedule
November 11th: Lock Haven @ No. 1 Penn State
November 20th: No. 1 Penn State @ Army
December 2nd: No. 1 Penn State @ Rider
December 4th: No. 1 Penn State @ No. 21 Lehigh
December 11th: Oregon State @ No. 1 Penn State
December 19th & 20th: 2022 National Collegiate Duals (New Orleans)
January 6th: No. 1 Penn State @ No. 10 Wisconsin
January 20th: No. 8 Michigan @ No. 1 Penn State
January 22nd: Michigan State @ No. 1 Penn State
January 27th: No. 2 Iowa @ No. 1 Penn State
February 3rd: No. 1 Penn State @ No. 4 Ohio State
February 5th: No. 1 Penn State @ Indiana
February 10th: No. 1 Penn State @ Rutgers
February 12th: Maryland @ No. 1 Penn State
February 19th: Clarion @ No. 1 Penn State

2023 Big Ten Championships
March 4th & 5th: Big Ten Championships (Ann Arbor, Michigan)

2023 NCAA Championships
March 16th-18th: NCAA Championships (Tulsa, Oklahoma)

Tournaments/Invitationals (most likely Penn State will have representatives in these)
December 2nd & 3rd: Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational
December 29th & 30th: Midlands
January 1st & 2nd: Southern Scuffle

The 2022-2023 wrestling schedule includes seven home duals and two duals in the Bryce Jordan Center. Yep, two!

Obviously the January 20th tilt against Michigan and the January 27th clash against Iowa will be the BJC meets. Get your popcorn ready!

But one question Penn State wrestling fans are probably asking is “Will the Nittany Lions have any premier non-conference matchups”? At this point I don’t have an answer for that as Cael Sanderson and company are currently slated to take on Lock Haven, Army, Rider, No. 21 Lehigh, Oregon State, and Clarion as part of their non-conference schedule. However, Penn State is schedule to compete once again in the National Collegiate Duals, this time taking place in New Orleans on December 19th and 20th.

Here are the teams announced for the 2022 National Collegiate Duals:
ACC: No. 12 NC State, No. 19 North Carolina
Big 12: No. 13 Iowa State, No. 14 Northern Iowa
Big Ten: No. 1 Penn State, No. 4 Ohio State
EIWA: No. 5 Cornell, No. 21 Lehigh
MAC: Central Michigan, Lock Haven
Pac-12: No. 28 Cal Poly, Oregon State

Depending on which side of the bracket the Nittany Lions fall on, they could be matched up against some stiff competition. I think an opening round opponent of Central Michigan, followed up by a clash with No. 12 NC State, and a final against No. 5 Cornell would certainly be nice. But time will tell.

Either way, it was sure nice of the folks at Penn State wrestling to release this schedule a mere 38 days from their first dual.
