3. Recruiting Implications

Winning on the field will help winning off the field.

If Penn State comes out and impresses in these games, winning at least two, it could lead to a boost on the recruiting trail.

It may not do too much for the 2023 class as that one is close to wrapping up, but it could lead to major implications for 2024 and beyond. Penn State winning on the road against Michigan or beating Ohio State, would change some major negative narratives that other teams use against Penn State on the recruiting trail.

Additionally, just seeing that Penn State has the ability to contend on the national stage and make a run for the playoff could push some recruits towards the Nittany Lions.

These games themselves are big for recruiting, but so is the fact that two of them are home.

There will be scores of recruits at both the White Out against Minnesota and then the next game versus Ohio State. The White Out is always Penn State’s best recruiting tool, and this year will be no different. Winning that game will certainly help, but that atmosphere seemingly recruits itself at this point.

Impressing big-time recruits with a win over Ohio State would also be major for the Nittany Lions.

While it’s unlikely that everything in October goes as planned for the Nittany Lions, at least some of it going well will have positive impacts on this season and ones to follow.
