Professional Career

Following the abrupt end to his Penn State career, Grant Ament started to prepare for the next level of lacrosse.

Ament was the first overall pick in the 2020 Premier Lacrosse League Draft. He was selected by the Archers LC. The PLL was created in 2019, making Ament the second ever first overall pick in the league’s history.

On the field, Ament is a standout for the Archers. He was named an All-Star and named to the All-Pro in 2021. In 2020, he recorded 20 points as a rookie. His break-out season in 2021 included 35 points, consisting of 13 goals and 22 assists in nine games. This past year in 2022, Ament recorded 16 points in just five games.

Ament gives a lot of the credit for his success in the PLL to his Penn State head coach Jeff Tambroni.

"“You know he (Tambroni) runs a tight ship, but he runs a tight ship for a reason, and you see why it works and you see why he does the things that he does,” Ament said. “I think it’s certainly taught me how to push myself and be more motivated and try to stretch the boundaries a little bit.”"

While his career on the field has been successful, Ament is currently working on projects off the field that he hopes will help grow the game of lacrosse. One of these projects is Brave Heartz Lacrosse Club.

"“Essentially, it’s just like creating like think an autograph card, but it grants you an experience, Ament said. “So, you know different ways to interact with the person in a more intimate setting, like you know a lesson on a field or different things like that. Basically, the more you pay, the more access get of us”"

A comparison for this project would be the Penn State NIL fund, Success with Honor, which Ament is on the advisory board for. Ament hopes that advertising the Brave Heartz experience towards younger fans will grow the game and get more kids interested in lacrosse at a young age.

Ament notes that his time at Penn State has helped prepare him for the business side of things.

"“I think the biggest thing is just the network side of things,” Ament said. “You know just having conversations with alumni who are just interested in what I’m doing on a day-to-day basis and wanting to get involved with the things that I’m doing and kind of being able to use my name, that I really created a lot at Penn State and an audience at Penn State and kind of using that through the alumni network, and it’s been, it’s pretty cool.”"

It’s safe to say that Grant Ament feels like he made the right decision in following in his parents’ footsteps and going to Penn State.

"“I’ve never looked back, the best decision I could have made, and I’ve certainly got more out of it than I anticipated and it’s obviously still pretty, pretty, near and dear to my heart,” Ament said. “So best decision I’ve I could have made as 15-year-old with braces.”"
