Why Penn State football’s quarterbacks will have a big day on Saturday
1. Central Michigan’s Poor Pass Defense
Through three games this season, Central Michigan’s pass defense has been tough to watch, at least if you’re a Chippewas fan.
The Chippewas are giving up an average of 298.7 pass yards per game and 2.3 passing touchdowns per game.
Those numbers are actually worse when taking out Central Michigan’s game against an overmatched Bucknell team. Against Oklahoma State, the Chippewas allowed 406 passing yards and four passing touchdowns. South Alabama the following week threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns.
Against teams with a pulse, Central Michigan’s pass defense hasn’t stood a chance.
Penn State’s passing game certainly has a pulse, as the Nittany Lions are averaging 292.7 passing yards per game. Those are impressive numbers considering they include two road Power Five games.
Sean Clifford and Drew Allar have done well against secondaries better than Central Michigan’s this year. It wouldn’t be a shock if they each reach 200 passing yards in this game.
