For the third time this season, it’s gameday for Penn State Football, and it’s a big one for not only the Nittany Lions and their 2022 season, but also for the Big Ten Conference.

Penn State has plenty to prove in this matchup against the Auburn Tigers, as well as plenty of players that can prove a lot too.

There’s plenty of reasons to be optimistic about a win over Auburn, and there are a few keys to success for the Nittany Lions to be able to do so.

Who are some of the players that will need to step up for Penn State Football this afternoon? Let’s take a look at it.

Key player on offense – Landon Tengwall (LG)

Our two keys to success on offense in this one were pass protection and being able to run the ball between the tackles. Landon Tengwall can help this offense do both of those with a good game on Saturday afternoon.

As the starting left guard, Tengwall has struggled a bit at times so far this season.

Not only can a good game from Tengwall help the Penn State running backs pick up chunks of yardage on inside runs, but he can help Olu Fashanu protect Sean Clifford’s blind side and keep him upright, healthy, and comfortable in the pocket.

If Clifford has plenty of time to go through his progressions and make good throws like he did last year against the Tigers, he can have a big game and the Nittany Lions can come home with a win.

Olu Fashanu has been excellent so far at left tackle, Juice Scruggs has played well as expected at center, and Sal Wormley has been good so far at right guard; but Landon Tengwall is one who needs to step up.

He certainly can, because we’ve seen the potential he has, and we know how valuable he can be to this Penn State Football team. This week, though, he’ll need to go out there and prove it.
