Penn State Football: 3 Recruiting implications from the matchup with Auburn

Penn State football’s matchup with Auburn on Saturday will have more on the line than just a win. 

Penn State football will battle Auburn for a win on the field on Saturday, but they’ll also be playing for bragging rights off the field.

Penn State has started to recruit the South more aggressively in the past couple of cycles. This aggression has led to head-to-head recruiting battles with the likes of Florida, Miami, Georgia, Clemson and Auburn.

The Nittany Lions currently have the No. 12 recruiting class in the nation for 2023. One commit is from Alabama while three others are from Florida. Multiple other targets also remain in southern states.

Winning on the national stage in Auburn would go a long way in Penn State’s efforts to recruit the region. It does seem as though Penn State’s win against Auburn last year at least was a small factor in the Nittany Lions’ current success on the recruiting trail.
