Offensive line

Penn State’s offensive line struggled in 2021, but the group has improved in 2022.

The Penn State quarterbacks were sacked five times against Ohio, but a couple of them were on the young quarterbacks trying to make a play when it wasn’t there.

The run game improved for the Nittany Lions last week, but much of that was down outside of the tackles and didn’t have too much to do with offensive line play. The jury is still out on how the offensive line can perform in the run game.

Giving Sean Clifford time in this game will be a big key for Penn State. The group held their own against Auburn last year, and this group is better than that one.

For Auburn, the offensive line has done its job for Bigsby and the other running backs so far this year. The Tigers are averaging 247.5 rush yards per game this year, with an average of 6.3 yards per rush.

In pass protection, Auburn has only allowed one sack this year. Obviously, the competition has not been great, and the Tigers do not nearly have the amount of pass attempts that the Nittany Lions do.

Talent wise, this units are probably close to equal. The Auburn group is a little more experienced, with the youngest starter being a junior.

Advantage: Auburn (By a little)
